U.S. National Tournament

The information on this page was copied from http://wisconsinkubb.com/kubb_tournaments_future.htm

Location: Eau Claire Soccer Park

Time: Games start at 9am both days. Saturday sign-in 7:00am-8:30am.

Teams: 96 team maximum. Minimum of three persons on a team (No player may throw more than two batons.)

Cost: $50/team. Includes entry into team t-shirt contest and raffle. Teams pay at the tournament.

Format: All matches are best-of-three. Teams will be placed in groups of four. Each team will play three round-robin matches in their group. All teams advance to playoff round. 64 teams will play to enter the Championship Bracket and meet the waiting 32 teams with byes. All teams guaranteed at least five matches. All sets are Old Time Games competition sets. Quarterfinals (final 8) will start Sunday morning.

Team Placement: Top eight teams from 2011 will be divided in the four quarters of the 96-team bracket, with the top four teams from 2011 being placed in different quarters and the other four teams placed in a random fashion at opposite ends of the quarter. All other teams will be randomly placed in groups. If teams coming from the same kubb club/traveling group are placed in the same group of four, one will be randomly placed in a different group. We will do our best, but there will be no guarantee that teams from the same club/travel together (especially if there are several teams) will not meet each other in the first or second round of the playoffs.

Playoffs:
The tournament will have a Championship Bracket, Consolation Bracket, and 2nd Consolation Bracket. Awards will be given out to top four in Championship Bracket and top three in each the two consolation brackets. Both consolation brackets are best-of-one. Consolation Championship will be played in front of bleachers on Saturday. The intent is to create a festive atmosphere on Sunday morning and make sure teams know it is an accomplishment to reach Sunday (music 7am-9am, pitch assignment announcement 8:30am, introductions, more to come).

Food: Food will be served by Girls On The Run EC County (Swedish Brats will make a comeback).

Tournament t-shirts: 2012 Tournament t-shirts will be available for purchase for $10. Womens cut will be available.

Team t-shirt competition (new): When teams sign-in, all players will receive a beaded necklace. During Saturday, each player will be able to give the necklace to the team that they think has the best team t-shirt. The three teams with the most necklaces will be awarded prizes.

Raffle (new): Instead of a silent auction, we will now be doing a raffle. When teams sign-in, all players will receive a raffle ticket. A raffle will be held Sunday before the semi-finals begin.

Additional things: Buttons will be given to players playing in their fifth year. Award to best tosser of the kubbs (Bästa Utkastare) from Sunday teams.
